Middle Ground - a unique debate event at Edbridge

Do you find yourself expressing your opinions on social media often? Having intense discussions at the dining table? Perhaps you enjoy debating in school? If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, then this event is just for you!

Join us this Saturday as we engage in a unique style of debating, inspired by ‘Middle Ground’ - a series created by Jubilee Media, an organisation which creates human-centric videos aimed to bridge people together. (Watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0SpzIIHEaE)

Middle Ground.jpg

The format of the debate is unconventional - participants will be presented with a series of unbiased statements which they have to agree/disagree with. Participants will then explain the reasons behind their decision.

The aim of this event is to create an open and non-judgmental environment where participants can freely express their opinions, and most importantly hope to learn something meaningful from the other side - challenging their own views, and attempting to reach some sort of middle ground.

This event is open to all high school students.

STEMINAR - an Edbridge initiative towards bringing science closer to middle school students!

WhatsApp Image 2019-05-13 at 18.10.06.jpeg

Modern curricula suggest that STEM education in middle school should focus on fundamental concepts treated in an isolated manner. They underestimate the ability and willingness of the typical sixth grader to question, hypothesize, and verify.

Join us for an afternoon of discussion, brainstorming, problem-solving, and a glimpse into what science today is beginning to look like outside of the constraints of your classrooms.

- What is it? This STEMINAR offers students thought-provoking scientific problems in a social and cooperative atmosphere. Students work individually or in groups for as long as they like to solve fun puzzles, problem sets and games, with support provided by a senior student facilitator. Motivation comes from social interaction and collaboration, rather than from any prize, grade, medal, or ranking.

- Who is it for? Middle schoolers (Grades 6 to 8). We welcome all types of students - from those struggling with science to those soaring in achievement.

A nominal fee of ₹200 will be charged on the day of the event.

Queries? Feel free to contact Smiti Mittal, the student lead for STEMINAR: +91 81302 54514

Clues and Colors - A Street Art Scavenger Hunt at the Lodhi Art District

Lodhi Scav Hunt 2.jpg

Did you know that Delhi is home to India's first open-air Public Art District?

The Lodhi Colony in South Delhi presents both modern and ancient reminiscences of the city. It is not only home to the newly made Lodhi Art district, and luxury restaurants and homes, but also lots of our city's heritage - Lodhi gardens and various tombs, for instance. This locality can take you back and forth in time.

It is no surprise that this is where the Lodhi Art district happened to bloom. Join us in this scavenger hunt to explore this union of tradition, modernity, and discourse. Through this scavenger hunt, we will actively engage with the community and try to understand how public spaces can be turned into a medium of discourse that encourages people to engage in conversations while also becoming more accepting of diversity and diverse opinions.

Allow yourself to indulge in an understanding of your community like never before. If you're lucky, you might just find some of the artists from India, Italy, New Zealand, and other parts of the world, painting their way through, always more than happy to strike a conversation with you!

REGISTER NOW!

Inspiring Delhi is an Edbridge Initiative which aims to encourage city exploration through community engagement. Our series of walks and scavenger hunts will take you through different parts of the city, engaging with this city with a culturally rich, diverse history, while also ravishing some of the best street food in town, or bumping into the next gully boy! Perhaps you will be inspired to translate some of your findings and insights into a unique project.
