HACK-ED AND ODDLE PRESENT: DEBATE ON CAN AI DO ART?

In an age where artificial intelligence permeates every aspect of our lives, from our smartphones to our homes, this question has sparked heated debates and inspired both awe and skepticism. As we explore this topic, we delve into a realm where machines are not only capable of logical reasoning but also capable of producing artistic expressions. While traditional notions of art have long been associated with human emotion and ingenuity, the emergence of AI-generated artworks has challenged these established beliefs, raising fundamental questions about the nature of creativity, the essence of artistic expression, and the role of humans in the creative process.

In this edition of Majhdhar debate we will take contrarian position on this matter and explore the depth and breadth of what artificial creativity means? Is human society gaining something valuable? Or are we loosing our humanity? Join us in a Majdhar debate competition on 24th of June, Saturday. We will soon announce the teams for this debate.

Middle Ground! An Engaging Dialogue on Article 370.

Inspired by the Youtube Series - Middle Ground - Edbridge wishes to promote topical conversations wherein people are usually extremely divided (such as political stance, NRC or Article 370). Espousing MK Gandhi's belief in non-violent communication we wish to promote liberal debate. Rather than letting conversations to go awry and become heated arguments rather than discussions, we wish to ask questions that allow both sides to learn more about each other and understand why that person believes the opposite of what they believe.

Mondays are for Mending

"Mondays Are For Mending" is our initiative (EdBridge X Black Orchid ft. Rafooghar) to re-introduce ourselves to a plethora of benefits that come from fixing things.

It of course makes economic and ecological sense - you save some cash and the world saves some resources. However, we're most interested in the magical byproducts of mending. The inculcation of a kind and more forgiving nature, the peace brought by working with your hands and accomplishing a pending task. The value we put on the labor it takes to fix broken things - a reflection of how we treat humans from a way in which we treat our things.

Most of all we're interested in how mending something can allow you to get to know your community, its quirks, its tremendous potential. The status quo of use and throw only remains if we let it. Come and mend - because Mondays are for Mending.
Start your week right!

Climate Cafe

Climate Café: (An EdBridge X Amrita Neelakantan event)

Towards a Greener World.png

You are cordially invited to take a stand for the planet!

From conversation to action at our climate café

If you take pride in standing up for your beliefs... If you want to be part of a community effort that can really make a difference... Then take part in the Climate Café because we have a lot to talk about. We all now know that scientists overwhelmingly agree that human activity is dangerously warming the earth and causing extinctions of the planet’s biodiversity.

We also know that global warming and ecosystem misuse is a dangerous reality, one that will increasingly touch our lives, those of our children and grandchildren, and the poorest people on our planet. Serious consequences are already here in the form of floods, heat waves, more violent storms and the rise of sea levels. Consequences also include civil disputes and violence over natural resource use.

The driver of all these environmental changes is our disproportional consumption – and we can all do things to reduce these impacts! And guess what... it’s easier when we all do it together. Come find out how! We invite you to join us for an exciting World Café. A powerful, new social change technique enables us to experience the power of community. You’ll interact with a broad cross-section of friends and neighbors in frank and open conversation that will help us reflect deeply on what today’s environmental challenges means to each of us, individually and as a community.

We’ll exchange views, feelings and ideas. In every Climate Café edition, we will have a World Café portion followed by a featured film / documentary.

Are you up for it? Then make this a priority... because when you know the facts, you know there’s nothing more important.
